Q1. Can you please introduce yourself and also tell us a bit about NDNLink ?

my name is Mark Nezvisky, I’m the CMO of NDN Link. My mission at NDN Link is to explain to people what NDN Link is in simple terms, so that anyone who’s interested in it may see the benefit.
NDN Link is a combination of a Named Data Networking Protocol and Blockchain
Named Data Networking allows us to fetch information on the Internet by NAME instead of the IP address and this introduces us to a brand new experience which hopefully we would be able to discuss more in-depth today :)

Q2. How are the plans shaping up for marketing + building a strong, core community which is essential for any project in the crypto industry?

we perform many marketing efforts to spread the word about NDN Link

but my biggest belief is that if the community finds value in what we do this would be the biggest push for the project
so on one hand we are doing our best on the technical side to make sure the product is SOLID
and on the other hand, we’re doing our best on the marketing side to convey the message to our community and explain the benefits of NDN Link, in hopes that it would be a “word of mouth” product once everyone start benefiting from it

Q3. Which product/feature will really affect the market of NDNLink ?
Mark Nezvisky:
thank you
only time will tell :) Actually only the market will tell with time and we are yet to find out
but we are betting that Live Streaming with NDN Link would be with less interruptions, glitches, freezes, sound distortions than it is now with TCP/IP
live streaming regardless of the platform you’re using YouTube, Twitch, Facebook, Instagram, etc.
or live streaming during webinars and business conferences, for example Zoom, GoToMeeting, Skype, Google Hangouts, etc.

Q5. Finally as we moved into 2020, in the short term what is NDNLink planning to achieve by end of year?

hopefully a lot 😄
from a technical standpoint, we would like to finish up the Consensus Algorithm together and the launch of the Testnet.
from a marketing perspective, to engage with the crypto community all around the world, as much as possible and also give the community an opportunity to purchase our tokens through many different exchanges

Q. Behind each messaging application there is a company that controls it, which means that the information you submit is being accessed by a third party, which not only violates the privacy of users. How can an NDN link help in this case?
Mark Nezvisky:
with NDN link, the data does not reside on one central server; instead, it’s spread out across the whole network, usually cached on the routers of the network
to retrieve the data that you want, you would simply send a request to the network, and NDN Link will find where the data resides
with NDN Link, the request would be sent by name instead of the IP address like it is done now
wherever the data may be, NDN link will use the shortest path to that data and retrieve it. It could be on the router nearest to you, it could be on the node within your network or a particular server; NDN link does not care, all it needs is the name of the data you’re looking for
this will give more control to the user because the data will not be tied to one specific server only

I find Your Data-Caching Strategy Resembles or Similar to a Chrome Browser Extension”GOOGLE DATA-SAVER.
What is the Core Advantage of the NDN LINKS, Data-Caching Mechanism than Data Saver Extensions?
Mark Nezvisky:
when Google Data Saver is enabled, Google intercepts your request for the content, forwards it to the web server, intercepts the replied content, compresses it, and then sends it back down to you, this is exactly how a proxy server works
So basically, Google Data Saver is the innocuous name for what could be called the Google traffic interception and inspection service
when you’re using Data Saver, Google’s servers reduce the amount of data that gets downloaded when you visit a webpage
how much data gets saved depends on the type of content on the page. Secure pages (pages that start with https) and incognito pages load without any data savings.
NDN Link on the other hand does not compress data it caches it on the routers of the network so that a user can request from the router again. With NDN Link the cache on the router is stored, it’s not cleared after delivery like with TCP/IP
this is just one of the differences, there are many more of course
plus data saver is just one of the features of the Chrome browser, and NDN Link is a brand new protocol for the whole Internet. It’s not an add-on or an extension, it’s a protocol that completely changes the Internet Infrastructure at the Network Level

Can you show us more in details on how IPFS running on an NDN protocol is more efficient than IPFS running on the IP Protocol & how NDN could be beneficial for the global network?

What requirements must I meet to participate in the IEO NDN and what responsibilities will I get based on my OKBs?
Mark Nezvisky:

How does NDN Link view projects like InterPlanetary File System(IPFS), FileCoin and Lambda which are all working in the same field as NDN Link? Are there any unique features that makes NDN Link ahead of them?
Peradventure they come up with a more better solution to addressing the problem of data retrieval in the future, how would NDN Link feel like? Would NDN Link see it as a competition or threat that aim to render NDN Link technology useless?
Mark Nezvisky:
Good question Aluta, first of all, we don’t compete with IPFS or Filecoin or Lambda. We are always looking to partner and create beautiful and useful products together.
secondly, each product/company has it’s own positioning on the market
there are companies that are researching the ndn protocol and are trying to adapt it to their infrastructure, to enhance their products, etc. Huawei, Cisco are great examples
we’ve taken an approach to combine it with the blockchain, so we are targeting a different niche on the market
plus each platform has its own positioning and each platform has their similarities. For example, just because YouTube has live streams doesn’t mean that Facebook or other platforms can’t have it correct?
Same thing with NDN, it’s all about how each company positions on the market. We are building an infrastructure with NDN and blockchain, so that other companies could use it for their needs. Some companies might not be interested in investing into an infrastructure from scratch so a ready solution like NDN Link will become handy.
also, our focus is more on live streams and data transmission and, IPFS/Filecoin are mostly focused on data storage and retrieval

How do NDN tokens play a role in the NDN Link ecosystem? What benefits will users and content producers receive when holding NDN tokens?
Mark Nezvisky:
for now it’s mainly for trading, but as we make more releases and have an infrastructure in place then companies would be able to utilize it to build products of their own on top of it. so from that point there will be more uses cases for the token

What are the uses of NDN LINK technology with respect to projects such as YouTube or video players?
Mark Nezvisky:
NDN Link can help Youtube and any similar platform to it. Here’s how: when you watch YOuTube, your device fetches that video by IP from the Google’s server, each second of the video is fetched. Once you’re done watching and would like to watch it again, the device would need to start fetching it again. NDN Link on the other hand caches the video on your router so that next time your device would not have to fetch that video from the server again.
Mark Nezvisky:
this saves resources and for you as a viewer would result in a more stable connection
because when there are millions of people fetching content from a server at some point it fails to deliver, simply because there are too many requests.
with NDN Link that problem is solved by the caching mechanism that I described
essentially this could be applied to any platform that has static video content like YoUTube and dynamic video content like Live streams
